Julia Janicki

Julia Janicki is a talented data journalist who has stood out in data visualization and journalism. Her varied career reflects her commitment to data analysis and effective visual communication. Currently a data journalist at AFP, she contributes to producing informative, visually engaging content for one of the world's largest news agencies.

Before joining AFP, Julia gained valuable experience as a data visualization developer at the Urban Institute, where she freelanced to build impactful data visualizations. She also worked as a data journalist at Startup Genome and as a design technologist at Stamen, using her expertise to tell stories through data.

Her work as a data consultant for the United Nations OCHA and as a consultant for Global Fishing Watch reflects her commitment to important causes such as climate change and biodiversity conservation. Julia also contributed as a data journalism fellow at UNESCO, working on visual communication projects to raise public awareness of social and environmental issues.

Outside her professional work, Julia has also taught as a teaching assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, sharing her expertise in entomology and biology with students.
